Vintage Vegas Neon on Fremont Street
From high roller views and chiming slot machines, there's a lot to love about Las Vegas, Nevada. However, it's downtown on Fremont where you'll find all the old school charm of Sin City.

Old State Capitol in Springfield, Illinois
Not to be outdone by the current state capitol, the old state capitol is a notable Springfield, Illinois landmark. This building was frequented by Abraham Lincoln prior to his presidency, and was elaborately restored in the 1960s to its Lincoln-era appearance. This was one of numerous travel photography stops made during my road trip through the Midwest.

Palms Place Las Vegas
A corner suite with views of the Las Vegas Strip can be pretty entertaining in its own right, something that I embraced during my recent stay at the Palms Place Hotel and Spa. Understanding that my visit to Sin City was going to be brief this time, I opted for a 1200 square foot room purely for the novelty of having more space than I'd know what to do with.
Complete with a kitchen, fireplace, two bathrooms, three televisions, and corner views that stretched from the mountains to the Strip, this was an easy place to feel like a king for a day. The real highlight, especially after a full day spent travel shooting in the desert, was the jetted soaker tub which I took full advantage of that evening with a beer in hand.
Having explored Las Vegas extensively over the last few years, half of the fun now has become about where I'm going to stay. Palms Place provided a nice twist by being just far enough away from the Strip that you could really enjoy the view by looking back at it. With so many high-end hotels to choose from, and some pretty wild rooms available, there's really no place quite like Las Vegas to play a bit of make-believe.
