Dining inside the castle (aka Cinderella's Royal Table) at the Magic Kingdom in Walt Disney World in Florida is one of those iconic experiences that really cements where you are. Purely by coincidence, our breakfast reservation happened to be at the end of the meal service so as the restaurant cleared out we found ourselves with the castle seemingly to ourselves.
There are those moments as a travel photographer where you just luck into an experience that you realize you couldn't have planned better if you tried. As we sat there enjoying our breakfast, drinking champagne, and taking in the views of the Magic Kingdom from what became a private dining experience inside the castle - this was one of those moments.
Located at the top of Disney's Contemporary Resort, the California Grill is one of the premiere dining experiences at Walt Disney World in Florida.
Enticed by their 50th Anniversary Celebration Menu (as both Walt Disney World and the Contemporary were turning 50) we decided to splurge on a culinary experience that included Heirloom Apple Salad, Duck L'Orange Pizza, 35 oz. Beef Rib-Eye Tomahawk Steak, an array of 50th dessert samplers, Grand Marnier Souffle, champagne, and coffee service.
Needless to say, the 50th Anniversary Celebration Menu was both amazing and the most expensive dining experience of our entire two week trip (by quite a large margin). Throw in the incredible view of the fireworks going off over the Magic Kingdom, plus the impeccable service, and our evening at the top of the Contemporary was easily one of the most unforgettable moments we had during the 50th celebrations at Walt Disney World.
