Contemporary Resort at Walt Disney World in Florida

As one of the most iconic hotels in Walt Disney World, Disney's Contemporary Resort remains a popular destination, in no small part, because it was one of the two original hotels on property when the Magic Kingdom first opened in 1971. Disney's Contemporary Resort is also noteworthy because of the monorail station and track that passes through the Grand Canyon Concourse of the hotel, as well as the gigantic mural by prominent Disney artist Mary Blair on display.

Midnight Madness in Downtown Medicine Hat, Alberta

Last night was Midnight Madness around downtown Medicine Hat, Alberta and the perfect excuse to tour, shop, and graze our way through local hotspots with a reminder of the beer, cookies, bagels, coffee (and more) on offer!

Midnight Madness Medicine Hat Alberta
The sidewalks were buzzing, music was playing, and even the Monarch Theatre (the subject of my now year-long documentary) was temporarily back and lit up for the night with a few screenings running. But, the deal of the night had to be the vintage projector and the stack of kitschy vinyl I snagged from one of the downtown thrift shops for a whopping $9.75.

I already cleaned her up she looks (and works) like brand new!

Congrats to all the vendors, organizers, and businesses who pulled this off - a great evening all around, and a really fun way to support lots of great local shops!

Additional shout out to the businesses in these pics - Local Medicine Hat, King Bagel, the Mezz, Madhatter Coffee Roastery, and Redcliff Bakery.

Home Alone 2 Talkboy For Christmas

"How'd you do - this is Peter McCallister, the faaaaaather ... credit card? You got it."

Shoutout to my buddy Tyler for sending me the ultimate Home Alone 2 Christmas gift this year. Interestingly, recorded messages over a Talkboy was already how I was making most of my hotel reservations for professional travel shoots these days lol.

Complete with old school Home Alone 2 trading cards, official replicas of the two turtle doves used in the movie, a gift card for "my very own cheese pizza", and an original Talkboy - this gift was the cherry on top of the New York Christmas shoots I did a couple years ago inspired by my love for this movie.

This is the beauty of film school friendships - the shared appreciation for movies and references runs deep. Thank you for making my early '90s "Lost in New York" Christmas wishes come true buddy! This gift was too good not to share.

The Oculus in New York City

Located beneath the World Trade Center, The Oculus is a transportation hub and retail space linking 12 subway lines in New York City. Conceived as part of the World Trade Center masterplan and rebuild, the cathedral like space of The Oculus quickly became a celebrated architectural gem in New York's financial district.

Then & Now Series in Medicine Hat, Alberta

Inspired by some of the earlier comparison shots I'd created from hometown archival materials, this month I rebooted my "Then & Now" series featuring locations around Medicine Hat, Alberta. With the new additions focusing on Christmas scenes this month, one of the biggest changes is that the latest work will all end up in this new album on the Editing Luke Facebook feed.

This should not only make the "Then & Now" series considerably easier to explore - it should also make it more enjoyable to reference the various perspectives at a glance. Click the link above to have a look at the new album as it continues to grow.

Grand Floridian Resort at Walt Disney World

Opened in 1988, the Grand Floridian Resort is the flagship hotel at Walt Disney World in Florida. Boasting over 800 rooms, the Victorian styling of the Grand Floridian was inspired by the beach resorts of the early 20th century and was also meant to reflect the aesthetic of Main Street U.S.A. within the Magic Kingdom. The Grand Floridian is especially impressive at Christmas with the addition of a 40 foot Christmas tree and a giant gingerbread house on display in the lobby.
