Palliser Hotel in Calgary, Alberta

Opened in 1914, the Palliser Hotel (now the Fairmont Palliser) in downtown Calgary, Alberta is one of Canada's grand railway hotels. The Palliser was built by the Canadian Pacific Railway, and in addition to becoming Calgary's premiere hotel, it proved a popular stop for tourists on route to CP's iconic Banff Springs Hotel in Banff National Park in the Alberta Rockies.

As such, the Palliser Hotel was the tallest building in Calgary, Alberta until 1958. The hotel and city itself have obviously changed dramatically in the last century, but the Palliser has stood the test of time and has remained one of Calgary's most luxurious and historic hotels.
