Jack Humeny at Station Coffee Co.

I made my way to Station Coffee Co. in downtown Medicine Hat last week to catch Jack Humeny's set for the Tongue on the Post Folk Festival. It was the perfect setting for Jack's laid back style, and the lighting made for some great captures as well.

Kiln Sessions at Medalta Potteries

One of my favorite parts of this year's Tongue on the Post Folk Festival in Medicine Hat, Alberta was the kiln sessions that took place at Medalta Potteries over the weekend. The acoustics and intimate atmosphere of historic kiln #2 provided an incredible backdrop for some truly memorable musical performances. Of all the locations that hosted the folk fest over the week, there's no denying that this one was especially authentic to culture in the Hat.

I took in performances from Brady Enslen, Brett Nelson, Karla Adolphe, and Anni DeGroot. In each case I was so impressed with the variety of styles and approaches that each artist took. There were even some nice moments where the audience sang along, creating a beautiful reverb in that historic space. It was a beautiful experience.

Derek Hintz at Inspire Cafe

Continuing my rounds to catch a few of the performances from the Tongue on the Post Folk Festival last week, I stopped in to catch Derek Hintz's set at Inspire Cafe. The place was packed, the energy was high, and the music was on point. Seeing Derek Hintz's cafe concert was just further proof that Medicine Hat's folk fest really is something special.
