Pay attention to music transients. When you're cutting to music, don't just cut on the beat as it appears visually in your timeline. Find the actual transient peak in the waveform and cut there. The difference between cutting on a beat's visual marker and cutting on its actual attack can be 10-20 milliseconds — enough to make a cut feel tight or sloppy.
