Levitated Mass at LACMA in Los Angeles, California

Informally known as 'that big rock above the path' - Levitated Mass is a public art sculpture by Michael Heizer located at the Los Angeles County Museum of Art in Los Angeles, Calfornia. Not unlike the nearby Urban Light installation, Levitated Mass has undoubtedly gained a lot of attention as a popular L.A. Instagram spot. Naturally, I got my picture too.

French Crown Jewels in the Galerie d'Apollon

Located in the Galerie d'Apollon (or Apollo Gallery) inside the Louvre in Paris, France, you'll find some of the prominent surviving pieces of the French Crown Jewels. Although much of the collection was sold off in various stages following the French Revolution, key pieces, like the crown of Louis XV, were kept for their historical significance.

As a former palace itself, you won't struggle to find incredible spaces inside the Louvre. The Galerie d'Apollon stands out as the most ornate, however. This was the first royal gallery of Louis XIV, which later served as the model for the Hall of Mirrors at the Palace of Versailles. 

  

Back to the Future DeLorean at the Petersen Museum

From elaborate replicas to the old display at Universal Studios Hollywood, I've always loved the iconic DeLorean time machine from the Back to the Future trilogy. The DeLorean on display at the Petersen Automotive Museum in Los Angeles, California is no mere replica however, it's in fact the only surviving DeLorean that appeared on screen in all three films. 

While there were actually three cars used during production, this "Hero A" car was the one primarily used with the actors. Over nearly two years this DeLorean DMC-12 was painstakingly restored with the process becoming the subject of OUTATIME, a documentary released in 2016. This was also the year that the Back to the Future DeLorean went on display at the Petersen Automotive Museum on a permanent loan from Universal Studios Hollywood.
