Filming With TSN

This last week has been a lot of fun with the World Under 17 Hockey Challenge taking place at the Canalta Centre here in Medicine Hat, Alberta. A couple weeks ago I was contacted by a producer at TSN (The Sports Network) to inquire about Editing Luke shooting the Medicine Hat scenics for the national broadcasts of the bronze medal, semi-final, and gold medal hockey games.

Editing Luke TSN HockeyWorking with other outfits like this is always a cool experience. Not only do you get an inside look at how they operate, but it's always pretty flattering when established organizations find your work from across the country and it leads to unique opportunities to collaborate. In addition to the broadcasts, the local scenics I shot provided an excuse to update my b-roll with some picturesque winter scenes - like in Police Point Park, for example. All around it was a fun week.

Memorial Chamber | Peace Tower in Ottawa, Ontario

Inside Peace Tower in Ottawa, Ontario you'll find the Memorial Chamber on Parliament Hill. On display in the main altar is the First World War Book of Remembrance. When Parliament was rebuilt in the early 1920's following a devastating fire and the end of World War I, the new Peace Tower included this Memorial Chamber in dedication to all the Canadian men and women who had given their lives in service to their country.

Expanding the Around Alberta Series

Since 2014 the Around Alberta travel photography series has grown by leaps and bounds. From the Rockies to the prairies to the cities, this series has thrived on capturing iconic visuals from around my home province. Of course, a big part of the equation has also been about finding the right timing, a specific style, and highlighting ways to link a lot of unique locations together.

Alberta Travel Photographer2020 will hopefully be the biggest year yet for the Around Alberta series. With most of the older photo sets seeing updates and thousands of new additions in the pipeline, I'm hopeful that the new year will present more opportunities for collaboration and showcasing parts of Alberta that don't necessarily get the attention they deserve.

You'll already find lots of Alberta content to explore on Editing Luke, however if you're curious about the existing material, want to recommend a spot, or want to discuss an idea - by all means, you can reach me here. Expect some really exciting additions to the collection in 2020!
