Writing-on-Stone Provincial Park
A return trip to Writing-on-Stone Provincial Park this summer instantly transported me back to childhood camping trips with family and friends. Towering hoodoos, winding trails, and stunning vistas make this natural area an amazing place to explore. Located in a valley along the Milk River in Southern Alberta, Writing-on-Stone is an incredibly unique location and one that further emphasizes the wonder of the badlands that this province is renowned for.
The smokey haze of summer wildfires blanketed the area as we hiked through the hoodoos, however we were still treated to beautiful views of the Sweetgrass Hills in the distance. We saw a handful of others come up from the campground below to wander through the maze of sandstone. Writing-on-Stone is still as beautiful as I remembered it growing up, and if you've never been it's well worth the journey.
