Chuckwagon Races in Medicine Hat: Part 1

Last weekend I attended the chuckwagon races at the Stampede grounds in Medicine Hat, Alberta with my family. I took the opportunity to photograph a few of the heats, and came away rather pleased with what I'd shot. Between the energetic horses and the muddy track, there was lots of action that made for a really good time.

Cliffs of Medicine Hat

It's easy to become jaded after years of seeing the same view, but Medicine Hat, Alberta has a pretty incredible backdrop. The cliffs carved around the bend of the South Saskatchewan River mark the edge of the city and frame the natural landscape that is Police Point Park. On the edge of the clay district last week I stopped to take these pictures. It was an instant reminder of what an amazing part of the world we live in.

Westminster United Church

The Westminster United Church in Medicine Hat has a congregation that dates back to 1913, although the current building was constructed in 1957. In 1979 a fire destroyed the original part of the building, but it was replaced soon after - something we looked through an old album to see pictures of. My friend Taylor was recently ordained and he invited me to Westminster Church to come take some photos. This was the result.
