Nirvana @ EMP Museum in Seattle

nirvana exhibit at EMP museum in seattle washingtonAfter finding this used book in Portland and visiting Kurt Cobain's memorial in his hometown of Aberdeen, making it to the EMP Museum to see the impressive Nirvana collection was certainly a fitting conclusion. From clothing to instruments, and even the original cover photo of Nevermind, I was blown away by the display. This really is an epic museum.

Oregon Zoo in Portland: Part 1

Our plan to go to the zoo in Portland was probably as much about getting outside and enjoying the beautiful summer weather as it was anything else. We walked from our downtown hotel to catch the train, and then spent the afternoon wandering around and seeing all of the enclosures.

I got some particularly cool shots of a bald eagle in flight. At one point he lost his barrings and flew into the crowd and hit a wall - it certainly perked everyone up. The eagle was new to the show and still learning the ropes, but he was fine. The Oregon Zoo is not as big as the Calgary Zoo, but it's still a beautifully maintained place and we enjoyed ourselves.
