Evening View of the Eiffel Tower in Paris, France

I spent a lot of time searching out iconic views to capture the Eiffel Tower while in Paris, France. After all the wandering and various shoots over several weeks, on my final night in the city I moved out of central Paris and was rewarded with this incredible view directly from my hotel room. Turns out all I was missing was a view from further back.

The Rebuilding of Notre Dame Cathedral

Following the devastating fire in April 2019, the reconstruction of Notre Dame in Paris, France has become an increasingly complicated and daunting task. While the twin towers of the cathedral survived the fire, efforts to restore the roof, spire, and stone vaulting that were lost could realistically take several decades to rebuild as they were.

There's no denying that Notre Dame Cathedral is still a stunning structure to behold, even behind the myriad of scaffolding and equipment now blocking the view. Built between 1163 and 1345, Notre Dame is regarded as one of the most recognizable buildings in Paris and a symbol of France. This was further reinforced as a billion dollars in donations poured in following the fire.

These images showcase the state of Notre Dame as it appeared in late 2020.

Trocadéro and the Eiffel Tower

Located just across the Seine River from the Eiffel Tower, the Trocadéro is the site of the Palais de Chaillot and one of the most popular photo spots in Paris, France. The symmetrical view from the terrace of the Palais de Chaillot has been attracting visitors since it was completed for the Exposition Internationale of 1937.

French Crown Jewels in the Galerie d'Apollon

Located in the Galerie d'Apollon (or Apollo Gallery) inside the Louvre in Paris, France, you'll find some of the prominent surviving pieces of the French Crown Jewels. Although much of the collection was sold off in various stages following the French Revolution, key pieces, like the crown of Louis XV, were kept for their historical significance.

As a former palace itself, you won't struggle to find incredible spaces inside the Louvre. The Galerie d'Apollon stands out as the most ornate, however. This was the first royal gallery of Louis XIV, which later served as the model for the Hall of Mirrors at the Palace of Versailles.
