A Midweek Adventure in Downtown Calgary

Wanting to celebrate is reason to celebrate these days. A little midweek adventure around downtown Calgary, Alberta was exactly the break I needed - and by that I mean a handful of new travel shoots are incoming for the Around Alberta series.

Cadillac Ranch Along Route 66 in Amarillo, Texas

As one of the most popular and recognizable roadside attractions along Route 66 in Amarillo, Texas, Cadillac Ranch continues to draw visitors, artists, and lots and lots of spray paint. Made up of 10 Cadillacs with their noses buried in the ground, this art installation highlights the tail fins of the cars which have become an ever-changing canvas from the spray paint visitors bring. 

 

Cadillac Ranch RV Park & Gift Shop

Located near the popular Cadillac Ranch in Texas, the RV Park and Cadillac Ranch Gift Shop has a unique display of beveled Cadillacs (in the style of the popular Route 66 attraction) to attract passing motorists on the western edge of Amarillo.

 

More Travel Shoots in Saskatchewan

This week saw the creation of several new photo essays from a variety of locations around Saskatchewan, largely centred around Saskatoon. Cool, Calm & Cadillac'd

Long time followers of Editing Luke will understand that cars have always played a big part in a lot of my travel shoots. With the addition of a Cadillac CTS, you can expect a few cameos to pop up in more of my Canadian travel shoots ahead. What can I say? Playing with cars is fun.    

 

Prop Warehouse at Paramount Pictures Studios

From classic cars and old signage to promotional memorabilia and onscreen set pieces, the prop warehouse at Paramount Pictures Studios in Los Angeles, California is a brief, but fascinating glimpse behind the scenes of a major Hollywood studio. 

Some of the notable pieces inside the prop warehouse include a Cadillac from Dreamgirls, several large-scale pieces from the Transformers franchise, the thrown from Gladiator, the submarine model from the Hunt For Red October, and a variety of props from the Star Trek franchise. This curated warehouse collection is part of the studio tour at Paramount Pictures that allows visitors to get up close and personal with the movie history on the Paramount lot.
