Riding the Shinkansen in Japan

The Shinkansen (or bullet train) is Japan's world renowned high speed rail network that makes traveling throughout the country fast and efficient. While in Japan we rode the Nozomi on the Tokaido Shinkansen line, which is the super express train that links Tokyo and Osaka.

The Nozomi only stops in major cities (Yokohama, Nagoya and Kyoto) making it the fastest link between Tokyo Station and Shin-Osaka. Reaching speeds of up to 300 km/h, the N700 series of trains used on this line travel the 515 km between Tokyo and Osaka in just under two and a half hours. It's a really unique sensation to travel this speed so comfortably at ground level.
