On 2nd: Documentary

A downtown block in my hometown of Medicine Hat, Alberta. A photo series that began in 2012. A brand new documentary short born out of being in the right place at the right time.

On 2nd explores the recent evolution of the first block of 2nd Street in downtown Medicine Hat, Alberta. In 2012 I began exploring and photographing a lot of the vacant and / or abandoned buildings around downtown. Little did I know at the time, but a wave of renewal was about to hit and change everything. Here's a closer look at how it unfolded.

Aerial Views of Red Rock Coulee

The incredible Mars-like surface of Red Rock Coulee in Alberta is only made more dramatic when seen from above with the help of a drone. After filming some material for another project in the area earlier this year, I stopped off at Red Rock Coulee to shoot some aerial photography and footage of this amazing landscape. Here is a short highlight reel.

Dealey Plaza in Dallas, Texas

It was on November 22, 1963 that Dealey Plaza became immortalized in history when President John F. Kennedy was assassinated here while riding in a presidential motorcade through downtown Dallas, Texas. Lee Harvey Oswald fired from the 6th floor of the nearby Texas School Book Depository. An 'X' on the street still marks the location of the incident.

JFK Dealey Plaza Dallas TexasStanding on the Grassy Knoll, it's a bit surreal to stand in places so defined by a single moment in history. With a nearby monument and a museum in the former Texas School Book Depository providing more context, you can also still find conspiracy theorists at Dealey Plaza trying to enlighten the public on what really happened.

This is the view looking west on Dealey Plaza. The 'X' marking the spot where the president was hit is just behind the black car in this image. The motorcade was heading towards the overpass. Oswald fired from above (the top right). Straight ahead is the Grassy Knoll.
