North Head Lighthouse, Washington Coast

Shortly after crossing the Astoria-Megler bridge we found ourselves skirting the Washington coast on our way to the North Head Lighthouse. This beautiful lighthouse was first lit in 1898, and was used to alert ships coming from the north on their way into the Columbia River.

North Head Lighthouse is located in Cape Disappointment State Park, which seemed fitting, as Mike and I were both disappointed that we'd missed our chance to go inside the lighthouse by only 10 minutes. Still, it was a stunning location with epic views of the Pacific Ocean. We also ended up exploring Battery Harvey Allen shortly after, which was a bonus we hadn't planned for. This post was featured on Washington State Park's official blog, Adventure Awaits! You can see that post here.
