Queen Mary Under a Vintage Glow
Today marks the 100th anniversary of the sinking of the Titanic, which happened just after 2am on April 15, 1912. I've always been fascinated by the story and construction of that ship, but unfortunately that wasn't really enough to inspire much of a blog post. Then I remembered all of the pictures I shot of the Queen Mary in Long Beach in 2010. What's more, the Queen Mary was used as the backdrop for one of the worst films ever produced, Titanic II. Yes, that actually exists. I think you'll find that today's blog post is actually quite topical and relevant now, right?
In all seriousness, all of the talk about Titanic did get me interested in revisiting my Queen Mary photos. Seeing as the original photo set I uploaded was pretty brief, I wanted to go back and also try out a few new filters I created to make the images look as though I had shot them in the ship's heyday. The Queen Mary has been permanently docked in Long Beach, California since 1967 and is now a hotel and museum. In short, touring the famed liner will make you think about the Titanic, but chances of a shipwreck are thankfully nil.
