A New Look!

Over a year old and I feel like this blog has finally grown into a solid foundation for promoting my work, sharing ideas, and generally just fueling my various creative whims. However, deciding on a look for this blog has been a continously evolving process. Obviously I'm a very visual person, but for the first time I'm happy to say that this current look is all my own, both in its design and use.

The header itself has changed multiple times, but I'm happy to have settled on a design that plays on what my very first header was, while polishing it into a very distinctive and original look. The basis of the image is the rooftops of downtown Medicine Hat looking off the parkade. The parkade where I've shot numerous pictures over the years, including the very first footage I shot with my HDV camera in 2006. A small selection of that footage can be seen at the very start of my I'm Luke, I'm Fandrix video in which I give a brief overview of some of the recent edits I've done.

Speaking of which, the real change is my new blog background which is a collage of my various posters that I designed for a handful of my films over the last several years. I think it's not only graphically stimulating, but it's also an eye-opener as to how many projects I've produced and a great way of showing any new-comers just how passionate I am about what I'm doing.

The focus of Editing Luke has always been to talk about filmmaking and filmmaking pursuits, but I finally feel like it's grown to reflect my personality, style and variety. I say this with a sigh of relief, because achieving this has been a giant project that at the end of the day I sometimes feel I'm only enjoying.

Shouldn't a filmmaker use film? I always thought that was funny that we went to film school with filmmakers and we made videos. I disapprove of the term filmmaker unless you are the guy at Kodak physical making celluloid. I also hate the term artist. I leave you with that and offer no solution to my problem.

thanks kristie!

and M, as far as I'm concerned you can switch out filmmaker or artist with a handful of other words that all mean the same thing. videomaker, videographer, moviemaker . . . who's kidding who huh? :)

That's a good point they all suck! I guess I just hate the label.
