Editing Luke's Monthly Rehash: August 2007
Posting my videos is simple, but the effort it takes to make them usually isn't. So, i figured I'd start a new tag ELMR: Editing Luke's Monthly Rehash, in which I'll re-post one of my vids to be looked at again. Critique it, criticize it, or just simply watch it. But please, just watch it, haha. Until my videos get linked to the next YouTube hit, this is the next best way to get a few people to check out my edits. So this month, i thought I'd start with my Niagara Falls: Video Postcard, it's gone pretty much unnoticed . . .
I made this short back in 2000 (when I was 16) and shot and edited it entirely in-camera. Meaning everything you see is chronologically shot and edited using only the effects in the camera. The only thing I added in post was the music, but it was shot with me listening to the song on a CD player and matching up my edits. Also, my Ottawa and Toronto Video Postcards were made this way (same vacation). It was a tricky process, but it was before I had my own computer to edit on so it became an experiment. I think the process makes the finished product a little more valuable . . . at least in my eyes after how much work it took for such a short film . . . on vacation no less :)
