Nice choice! The first time I seen this movie I thought it was hilarious, maybe age has something to do with it cause I would have been 18. But at the time I was expecting a drama but got a comedy and I think that is why I liked it. Over time my views have changed to. I realized that it had much more to it that me laughing at Lester (Note the selfishness). I also like its whole don't judge a book by its cover. It is shot dramatically and beautifully while underneath lies a messed up comedy. Even the you tube clip you have if you look at (no sound just look)the scene it represents elegance and the American Ideal while the demeanor and action undermines it. Result fantastic.

good choice--i remember seeing this movie when it was released and really connecting with it... i had been out of town and called back home to realize another guy was there sleeping with my wife... i think i'll check it out to see how its aged...

Further proof that I was an odd child ... I have loved this movie since I was about twelve. Not only is it great for the reasons you listed, but also because it has instilled in me a long term love for both Kevin Spacey and Thora Birch. (:
